Title: Shared Decision Making in the ICU – Prognosis and Uncertainty”
Presenter: Jared Greenberg, MD, MSc

Dr. Greenberg completed his undergrad education in biochemistry at Columbia University in New York as well as a Master of Science degree at the University of Chicago. He obtained his medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago, then went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at Emory University in Atlanta and finally his pulmonary critical care fellowship at the University of Chicago. He then accepted a faculty position at Rush, where he is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical care Medicine and Sleep Medicine. His research focuses on novel ways to communicate with and support families of critically ill patients, shared decision making in the ICU, and long-term outcomes for patients and families after critical illness.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how prognosis informs decision making for critically ill adults
  • Explore whether time helps lessen any of the uncertainty that comes with the decision-making process.
